Bešický and Čachovický peaks

The bedrock is formed by neovolcanic rocks (tephrites and pyroclastic basaltic rocks).

The peak of the Čachovický crest and its northern tip consists of a mosaic of perialpid basiphilous oak groves and dry herb fringes. The forest communities are complemented by acidophilous oak groves in the middle part of the natural complex. The non-forest associations are mainly characterised by dry lawns and narrow-leave shrubs numerous both in the dense canopy, as well as in a mosaic.

On the Běšický crest we find very high quality and well preserved thermophilic oak groves with prevailing Quercus robur. Some threatened and protected species grow in the herb layer here: St Bernard's lily (Anthericum liliago), Martagon lily (Lilium martagon), Dyer's woodruff (Asperula tinctoria), Small Pasque Flower (Pulsatilla pratensis), Melica picta including strongly threatened species Pale Bellflower (Campanula bononiensis) and (Muscari tenuiflorum). The endangered species Common Whitebeam (Sorbus aria) also occurs in the forest association.

The steppe grasslands with the historically documented occurrence of orchids are very valuable.
